Groom Your Resume Logo and Slogan

Problem Statement

University students who are seeking jobs/internships feel difficulty in building their CV/Resume which is the first and the most important step towards their selection. So, these students are clearly in need of some professional assistance for a successful landing in their dream careers.

Target Audience

Our target market is a very small one which makes it easy for us to find and target them. All the people who are seeking jobs or internships are basically our target. No age restriction but there would be more recent graduates or last year Univesity students, no division of target market on the basis of gender and the field of interest.

Goal

University students who are seeking jobs/internships feel difficulty in building their CV/Resume which is the first and the most important step towards their selection. So, these students are clearly in need of some professional assistance for a successful landing in their dream careers.

Task Division Among Group Members

As it is very hard to communicate effectively while sitting in an online environment where physical interaction is 0 and if someone doesn’t participate the work stops but this was not the case in our circle because of two common attributes among all circle members (dedication and responsible) it made the so-called communication problem easy for us and the operations were moving very smoothly. Amal’s 4th principle of progress Teamwork (Ek or Ek gyarah) was also a source of motivation for us. Where every circle member was ready to help each other whatever the task/situation/time it is. It hasn’t taken much time to create a supportive environment all credit goes to the circle members.

Tasks were divided into circle members based on their strengths which means someone who’s good in technical will look over technical aspects like Social Media, Post designs, etc, someone who’s good at writing will write creative post descriptions, someone who’s good at research will be doing that. So, after several meetings with circle members and analyzing their strengths. Tasks were divided amongst them every week depending on their strengths while there were some tasks that need to be done by every circle member such as extra courses on resume writing, finding professionals in their network for volunteering, feedback, etc.

Every week’s tasks are mentioned in the Mega Project Circles’ weekly performance sheet. It also helped me to look back on what we did last week and how much time do we have. At which pace we are going on, should we increase or decrease our speed. So, it was a great source to measure performance.

Anticipated Challenges and How we overcame them

  1. Communication: As we know that we are operating through an online platform where effective communication is far more difficult than physical communication. It can cause serious problems if possible actions are not taken timely. Solution: What we have decided to do in the initial weeks as I knew it can be difficult and can have serious consequences in the coming weeks. We suggested and encourage circle members to at least look over in Whatsapp group daily after 2–3 hours for any updates or problems. So, that you can cope up with the pace and join weekly meetings for sharing progress and action plans for the coming week.
  2. Project Model: At the initial stages, we were thinking to only restrict the project to our team which means feedback from our team members only but we’ve realized that this will not be much effective and people will not trust a person who’s not experienced. Solution: We decided to collaborate with industry professionals which include HR professionals and successful job personals in the corporate sector to volunteer. It went well, for now, we have 4 professionals on board who are here to give feedback to interested individuals on their Resume’s and this is our USP as well.
  3. Punctuality: During Ramadan and during the fellowship, we knew that most of the fellows have a lot of commitments, like University, home tasks, etc. So, to maintain punctuality and participation, it would be a challenge. Solution: There was an activity held during the sessions in which we identify punctuality hacks to overcome this challenge. Unless there’s not a consequence of a bad performance and appreciation for good performance there cannot be a motivation to work. So, we decided to create an appreciation culture in our circle to appreciate the MVTP’s and share consequences with those who are not giving their 100%. It helped to motivate fellows.
  4. How we will find or reach out to the needy: This was a big challenge for us to let the needy find us or we find the people who are in need of this service to achieve our goal which is to help as many people as possible through this platform. Solution: We decided on 3 strategies to how we will be reaching out to prospective people. Firstly through Social media the easiest way to reach a large number of people. Secondly, by reaching out personally in our networks and asking them if they need guidance they can contact us. Lastly, by sending a proposal to our University teachers and asking them to announce in the class if anyone needs help they can reach out to us.

Reflections

This journey had been a great learning experience for every single circle member in different manners. Amal's Principle of Progress was a great source of help for us all over the project. Amal’s 2nd principle of progress “Khudi” helped circle members in identifying their strengths through self-realization which helped us during the mega-project while assigning tasks according to their strengths. Amal’s s1st principle of progress “Amal” helped us to broke our procrastination and finally take action to go live and help the people who are really In need of this service. Amal’s 3rd principle of progress “Kam Kam Kam” motivated all of us during a long meeting, even we have meeting which lasted more than 2 hours and during hectic routines. Lastly and the most important Principle of progress “Teamwork”. It really showed us how productivity can be immensely increased if we work in a team where people support and appreciate each other in different situations. Everyone tries their best to become an MVTP of the circle which is, to be honest, the cause of a little success of our mega project. It would not be possible for anyone of us to perform all these tasks individually.
